Advisory Board for Dentine Hypersensitivity (DH): Driving Regional Guidelines for Better Patient Outcomes

THE 2024 MEA DENTAL EXPERTS ADVISORY BOARD
The Dentine Hypersensitivity (DH) Advisory Board, held on June 29, 2024, in Dubai, was the first regional meeting in the Middle East, Africa, Turkey, and Pakistan focused on DH. Twelve expert panelists from eight countries discussed the rising prevalence of DH and barriers to its diagnosis and management, creating simplified guidelines to improve clinical practice, awareness, and patient care.
Objectives of the Advisory Board
- Raise awareness of the increasing prevalence of DH across the MEA region
- Develop a simplified diagnostic algorithm that would help dental professionals efficiently identify DH during routine clinical practice.
- Provide evidence-based treatment strategies that address both patient and dentist needs, from home-based care to in-office interventions.
The Need for Improving Dental Care Guidelines
Professor Hesham Marei, Dean of the College of Dentistry at Gulf Medical University in the UAE, further explains what improvements need to be made to the current guidelines for better patient outcomes.
